Through careful decision making within our committee, the Corning Chamber of Commerce will be combining the Olive Festival and Corning Car Show into the same weekend.  This year's event will be held on Friday evening, October 6th on Solano Street, and Saturday, October 7th at the Corning Community Park, also known as the Corning Skate Park, 1485 Toomes Avenue and Lennox Field 1624 Houghton Ave.

With many activities throughout the week, this is sure to be an incredible event.  Here is a message from the Corning Chamber regarding these activities:

We, the Corning Chamber of Commerce directors and staff, are excited about the activities that will be offered this year, and can’t wait to share the fun with everyone!

We start off the festivities with a week’s worth of activities, starting on Saturday, September 30th with the Olive Festival Dinner and Dance.  Hosted by the American Legion, the event will be held at the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall, 1620 Solano Street.  Doors will be open from 6 until 11pm, with dinner being served from 7 until 8:30pm, including a dressing stuffed pork loin and sides catered by Ranchers Meats and Deli.  A no host beer and wine bar will be available, and live music performed by Thunder Mountain Music. Ticket cost is $30 per person in advance, $35 at the door, and can be purchased from any American Legion member or at the Corning Chamber of Commerce.

On Monday, October 2nd, begins the search for that Mysterious Missing Olive – It’s disappeared again!  New clues will be available at the Corning Observer and the Corning Chamber Office each day until the Missing Olive is found.  Call (530)824-5550 for details.  Find the Olive and win a cash prize!

On the evening of Friday, October 6th head downtown for the Car Show cruise at 5pm.  Watch as classic cars cruise up and down Solano Street and show off their rides.  Following the cruise, the Olive Festival Parade begins at 5:30pm.  Due to timing conflicts last year, the parade has been brought back to Friday night.  Enjoy tractors, floats, equestrians, and more as they make their way down Solano Street from the Veterans Memorial Hall and head east to City Hall.  Afterwards, make sure to stop by the BBQ to be held in the parking lot next to the Corning Museum.  For $10, you can grab a burger or hot dog with sides and a drink, and enjoy music performed by High Voltage at 6pm.
